Properties of Solution in Chemistry

Properties of Solution in ChemistryChemistry is not merely the study of things and ingredients, but a great deal more than that. You see chemistry has to do with how things interact and how atoms, ions, solids, liquids, gases, and solids combine and are put together.Chemistry has taken its turn on a journey through time, both literally and figuratively as the properties of the solution in chemistry have been studied and altered so many times throughout history. It has even been altered by man in his mad scramble to be the next Galileo, and Copernicus, and Newton. The properties of the solution in chemistry consist of matter and the properties of the solution in chemistry refer to the properties of liquid in aqueous solutions. In this process the constituents of each are separated and analysed and the results are used to come up with quantitative properties such as mass, specific gravity, density, weight, boiling point, freezing point, and boiling points and various other properties of any solute. Each of these properties can be used in calculations for many different physical processes as well as chemical reactions. Now you are probably wondering how the properties of the solution in chemistry can be used to calculate the composition equation for some compound. Well, in the initial stages of studying chemistry the properties of solution in chemistry had to be determined through the use of mass spectrometry and also the periodic table, which was actually the only way to determine the properties of any chemical compound. Although these methods have been used for centuries for determining properties of a compound, the properties of solution in chemistry is a relatively new method that was invented by William Feller in 1897.Feller and his brother based their methodology of determining the properties of a compound on their discovery that each element that was experimentally determined could be computed using a well known set of chemical compounds. In order to create t his formula Feller needed to perform several chemical experiments. These experiments required the reactions of substances containing other substances that had already been studied in previous research.Feller and his brother found that if they took the measurements for the properties of these other substances and then fed them into the formula to create the composition equation, they would get the same exact results that the periodic table gave. When they repeated this experiment with substances that had not been studied previously they got similar results which they called the Feller formula.Properties of solution in chemistry are still being studied by many scientists today, the aim being to improve the accuracy of their calculations. With all the people involved in studying properties of a compound it is no wonder that it is still used today.

12 English Travel Phrasal Verbs - Learn English with Harry ?? Here you will learn 12 travel phrasal verbs in English. If reading is not really your cup of tea, scroll down to watch a short video lesson on Travel Phrasal Verbs. 12 Travel Phrasal Verbs in English Travelling is a year round activity as people now go on holidays more than once a year. The following are phrasal verbs that are related to travel or, as you may name them, travel phrasal verbs. I have set out some key phrasal  verbs that we use in a typical holiday trip. SET OFFWhen we begin a journey anywhere of a short or long duration we have to start from some  place either our home or our office perhaps. So we normally advise our friends or family that our  holiday is about to start or we will set off shortly.Example: John was going to Italy for a week. He told his family that he was due to set off at 4 pm for the airport and asked if someone could give him a lift.SET OUTSimilar to set off we can also use this to describe the beginning of a journey. It sometimes  refers to a shorter journey than a holiday, perhaps a trek or a walk.Example: Michael is gone for a trek. He set out about an hour ago.  HEAD FORto start moving towards a place (town, city, etc)Example: We had decided to head for Edinburgh.CHECK IN/CHECK OUTWhen we arrive at our destination, a hotel or apartment on Airbnb (perhaps)  we usually have a time when we can check in.And when we leave our hotel or apartment at the end  of our vacation we are given a time to leave or check out.Ex ample: When I arrived in Barcelona I made my way (travelled to) to my hotel and checked in at about 2.30 pm. On my day of departure I had to check out before 12 noon. It suited me fine as my flight was due to leave at 3 pm.Scroll down for Everyday English Travel Phrases. 12 Travel Phrasal Verbs in English HOP ON/HOP OFF  Im sure you are familiar with these 2 travel phrasal verbs.Nowadays most of the cities offer visitors  the red bus option to get a tour of the city. This red bus is sometime a replica of (a copy of) the old  London buses. These buses offer the option to hop on or off as you please at different locations  around or across the city. You buy the ticket and you can get on (hop on) or get off (hop off) the bus  at any location.Example: We hopped on the train and went back to the hostel.  GET AROUND  Travelling is very enjoyable at any time. However, it is made easier due to the advances  in transport options. We can travel by car, train, plane or even ship! When setting out our plans for  our holidays it is important to know how we will travel from one destination to another. Our friends  may ask us what type of transport will we use.How are you getting around? = How will you travel?Example: David was travelling to 5 cities in 10 days. His friend wanted to know how he intend ed getting  around. He had arranged to hire a car for that purpose.SEE SOMEBODY OFFWhen somebody is leaving for an extended time it is normal for family members  to travel with that person to the point of departure (airport or train station) to wish them well and  to wave goodbye. This we refer to as seeing somebody off.Example: Mary was leaving for an extended  working holiday in Australia. Her parents were anxious to go to the airport to see her off. She was  going to be away for approximately 6 months. Everyday English Travel Phrases 12 Travel Phrasal Verbs GET BACKWhen we go on a holiday or a business trip we usually have to come back at sometime. It is also normal for our colleagues family and friends to ask us when are we due to return when talking about our holiday.Example: Declan was going on holiday to the USA and his boss wanted to know when he was due to get back to work. So we can ask When are you getting back? or When do you  get back to the office/home? or When are you due back?GET GOINGWhen it is time to depart or to leave we often use the phrase get going. We often use  it together with the words its about time because usually we are in a hurry or in a rush.Example: Igor was late packing his bag and needed to get to the airport as quickly as possible. He told his wife it was about time he got going. He had to leave immediately otherwise he might have missed his flight.BREAK DOWNto stop working (a machine, a vehicle)Example: Our car broke down on the way to Nice, so we phoned breakdown recovery service.START OFFto begin a jou rney at a particular placeExample: We started off in Heidelberg, which is this old-fashioned, nice town in Western Germany.PUT SOMEONE UPto give (someone) temporary accommodationExample: My friends put me up for three nights.Do you like travelling? New Campaign, Say Yes to Dallas, Aims to Attract Millennial Workforce

New Campaign, Say Yes to Dallas, Aims to Attract Millennial Workforce pixabay.com There’s no question that millennials are the future of the American workforce. The Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC) knows this too. Because they’ve taken a strong interest in attracting millennial talent to the Dallas region, they’ve recently launched a campaign called Say Yes to Dallas, according to a recent press release. Say Yes to Dallas is a multi-channel and multi-level marketing initiative that will help draw the attention of young, hard working professionals from all around the nation. To the DRC, the quality they’re most looking to attract is “talent.” This campaign will showcase the benefits that Dallas presents specifically to young people looking to advance their careers, raise a family, and enjoy their lives. Right now, the Dallas region is becoming one of the most thriving and dynamic marketplace areas in the country. In the past seven years, 75 companies have located to the region and created more than 500,000 jobs. However, professional development isn’t the only thing that millennials are looking for in an ideal city. The DRC recently sent out a nationwide survey to better understand what young people are really looking for in a place to live. Their results found that millennials are searching for factors such as access to healthy living areas like parks and hiking trails, proximity to retail and entertainment options, and a welcoming and progressive culture. Dallas is already on the right track to becoming a great city and a majority of people surveyed already had a positive opinion of the Dallas region and would consider moving for the right opportunity. While economic growth is certainly a factor in drawing in young, talented people, the DRC recognizes the many other aspects needed to build a great community. Dale Petroskey, President and CEO of the Dallas Regional Chamber, said in the release, “We want the entire world to know what we know: Dallas truly has something for everyone from diverse job opportunities and an affordable cost of living to unique neighborhoods and unlimited access to parks, culture, arts, sports, and entertainment.” Say Yes to Dallas’ website is a crucial resource which provides future residents with information on the benefits of moving to the city or region. It aims to answer questions that many potential residents would have. The website also features a job portal, a cost of living calculator, and links to explore Dallas’s vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. It features various information about nightlife, dining, and entertainment, as well as testimonials from recently  relocated residents who now live in and love Dallas. For more information about the campaign or Say Yes to Dallas more generally, visit their website at www.sayyestodallas.com or find them on their social media outlets: Facebook Twitter Instagram

Understanding Chemical Testing at the South Pole

Understanding Chemical Testing at the South PoleThe South Pole is one of the world's most famous destinations for scientists and researchers. As it is situated at the centre of the Earth, it is also known as the last place where the atmosphere, Earth and weather temperatures are uniform. A close look at this place will reveal that it contains a huge number of scientific instruments of different kinds. Some of these instruments are the laboratory tools that are used to study the major components of the planet and its atmosphere.Among all these instruments, the UV spectrometer is the most common and widely used instrument for studying the conditions of Earth's atmosphere. Besides this, an instrument called a halogen detector has been developed by the chemists to study the composition of the atmosphere. It also helps in the measurement of ozone formation, as well as the air masses. In addition, a carbon dioxide-monitoring device is used to measure the levels of carbon dioxide in the atm osphere. For a detailed explanation of this instrument, let us get an idea about the functions and characteristics of the instruments and other equipment in use on this visit to the area. The UV light of the ultraviolet consists of ultraviolet radiation with wavelengths of between 400 and 700 nanometers. These waves can penetrate through the atmosphere of Earth and enter the depths of the underground water or ocean to reach the oceans. In order to track the movements of gases like carbon dioxide, the chemical properties of the atmosphere must be measured. And, that is what a UV spectrometer does. Its sensitive detectors and sophisticated functioning make it possible to detect minute amounts of chemicals in the air. With the help of this instrument, scientists from around the world have been able to decipher the composition of the atmosphere of Earth and can study the concentrations of gases like carbon dioxide. Scientists, using this instrument, have studied the reaction of hydrocarbo ns, dust, gases and vapors with each other. And they have been able to measure the atmospheric gases and their densities. While performing some experiments in labs, if the visibility is prevented by clouds, it is because the UV light is blocked by the atmosphere. The atmosphere must be clean in order to conduct experiments. But, if a large amount of smoke enters the lab, it will affect the experiment and result in unreliable results. The UV light comes from the sun.Since the instruments can be designed in many different ways, the uses of the South Pole stations will always remain as varied as the research that is being done on them. The chemical pollution of this area is very poor and most of the pollutants come from airplanes or automobiles. However, as the number of people moving around the region rises, the pollution on the surface of the land is expected to become higher. So, for improving air quality and the general health of people, the scientists are developing new instruments and new gadgets to study the state of the atmosphere. These gadgets include such instruments as the thermo-imaging instruments that are useful for tracking the movement of the volcanic ash.A set of such instruments called UVE is designed to scan the air around the volcano and determine whether there is a volcanic eruption. This instrument has been tested and the results have been positive. Another set of such instruments is the Accelerometer, which is basically a wireless carbon dioxide detector, which has been used to track the entry of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These UVE and Accelerometer instruments can be purchased from the South Pole stations.

Why Does TV Show Chemistry Online Work?

Why Does TV Show Chemistry Online Work?As you know, in the last decade, this technology has been revolutionized by the introduction of television shows on which it is shown that students are instructed to watch chemistry online. However, the new form of the videos being presented as materials for the purpose of this education is not a straightforward one. Rather, there are many things that the internet can do in order to ensure that your teaching must be perfect in order to make your students happy with the outcomes that you are trying to impart. This, in general, is what good online chemistry classes can do. The idea is to present a show that requires the student to watch closely and learn at the same time. You will teach this idea through the art of making your videos engaging, compelling and entertaining. This, in turn, will help the students to be at ease in the classroom and the discussions that they would have with you. However, in order to guarantee that you will be successful i n achieving the goal that you want to accomplish, there are some things that you should make sure that you do so in order to give your lessons and the correct ways in which you can teach them. In doing so, you can achieve a truly wonderful form of education as well as a delightful learning experience. If you will consider how the actual science of chemistry is taught in the real world, then the following would be important to take into consideration.Chemistry is a science and as such, it is a broad subject. There are aspects that are taught through the medium of history, the building and the uses of materials. These are considered as the basics and in order to understand this, you should at least familiarize yourself with some aspects. In fact, you should be aware of the different stages of any chemical process and this would be necessary to get some information from the TV shows as well as in the form of magazines. In terms of the matter chemistry, you will want to go to the library first to research in order to get some comprehensive reference books to which you can refer to whenever you need to put in some of the elements that you will introduce to your students. There are also some great software, which can be used to help you attain these things. For example, in the case of multimedia, there are programs which are free as well as there are paid programs available. Since you are trying to attain the best of the different programs available in the market, it is advisable to choose the ones that would most likely help you in doing so.A general rule of thumb when it comes to the subject of Chemistry, is that you want to avoid having too many things to teach at once. In fact, you can always play a special DVD wherein you are given an opportunity to tell a story in this subject. This, in fact, is the best way to teach things in a concise manner. In order to give the best of the basics, you will not want to bore the students with too much of the theory which will defeat the purpose of your teaching. You will want to inform them with the topics that you want to talk about as well as the introduction and at the same time, you can use some music to keep them at ease.It is actually very important to teach them in such a way that they do not feel that the only thing that they can do is to memorize. In order to show your love for Chemistry, you can either go to the library to purchase your materials or you can simply make videos that would have lots of scientific facts and data included in them. Either way, you will want to make sure that you have complete confidence in your teaching in order to ensure that the class reaches the best possible results for your students. This is why it is important to take the time to think of every aspect so that you can offer the students a true sense of the chemistry.

What is it Like to Attend Adelphi University

What is it Like to Attend Adelphi University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Wendy is a New York City tutor who graduated from Adelphi University in 2011. She acquired her Bachelors degree in Biology, andshe specializesin Biology tutoring, Anatomy tutoring, Literature tutoring, and more. See what she had to say about Adelphi: VT: How easy or difficult is it to get around on your campus? Is it hilly, do lots of people bike, are there buses, etc. Wendy: Adelphi is a pretty small campus and it's really easy to get around. There are no hills. There are plenty of bike racks in case you want to bike. The campus is beautiful because Adelphi gets some funding from the NY Botanical Gardens to they keep the landscaping gorgeous. Also, there are many sculptures and art pieces on the grounds that are created by members of the Adelphi community, so that makes it even more enjoyable to walk on campus. There is a shuttle bus that goes to various points on campus as well as nearby bus and train stations. Many people that attend Adelphi commute (the LIRR has a stop just a few blocks away) so the shuttle buses help those who take public transportation get around. The shuttle buses are free and come very regularlyand often. VT: How helpful are the academic advisors? Wendy: The academic advisors are great. You must meet with an advisor before registering so that they can help you plan out your schedule and make sure that you are covering all of your requirements. It's easy to switch advisors also if you find one that may know more about your particular career or educational interests. If you are a part of multiple programs (i.e. Honors College, STEP Education Program, etc.), the various departments try to make sure that they assign you an advisor that is familiar with the curricula of all of the programs that you are enrolled in so that they can best help you plan your schedule. VT: How would you describe the dorm life? Wendy: Adelphi is primarily a commuting school. I commuted for my 4 years there, but I had some friends who resided at the University. From what I've seen and heard, the residence halls are very nice and they have a lot of options for what every individual student is looking for. The RA's are very helpful and the Resident Life association is veryaccommodating. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Wendy: Adelphi has a big liberal arts program, but there is truly something for everyone. Our performing arts program has a big representation and the facilities that they use are newly renovated and gorgeous. There are regular performances by the music and theatre departments that are phenomenal. There is a big interest in the STEP program. STEP is a combined Bachelor's/Master's program for people interested in going into teaching. Students can complete both degrees in 5 years. There is also a program in the Physics department that is a combined BS/MS with Columbia school of engineering where students complete a BS and MS in 5 years but they finish their final 2 years at Columbia. There is a big adult student population (the ABLE program) for various programs. There are a considerable number of master's programs offered at the University (Biology, Psychology, Speech Language Pathology, etc.). There is an Honor's College that has a wonderful curriculum modeled on that of Harvard Univ ersity. In order to be enrolled, students must achieve a minimum score on the SAT, have a minimum GPA in high school, and complete a one-on-one interview with the deans of the program. The curriculum incorporates a well-rounded education complete with science, music, art, foreign language, philosophy, and classical literature requirements as well as having special seminars offered by various professors from the different departments at Adelphi. Students must complete and defend and Honor's Thesis on the approved topic of their choice before graduation. Even though it is a very rigorous program, I found it to be a really fantastic experience-the deans are amazing, the curriculum is wonderful, and the doors that the curriculum and professors open up for the students are numerous. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Wendy: I didn't find it difficult at all to make friends. There are many student organizations that help bring together students with different interests- the radio station, Honor's program, Greek life, intramural sports, dance teams, honor societies for various subjects and programs, the newspaper, and many more. The programs range in size but the classes in general are small enough to allow students to both get to know each other as well as the professors teaching them. VT: How helpful is the Career Center? Wendy: I found the Career Center to be pretty helpful. I used the Career Center to help me find jobs on campus. After visiting the career center, I had a job within 2 weeks. I enrolled in medical school after I completed my undergraduate education so I didn't use the Career Center to help me find a job after graduation. I instead relied on the pre-professional office and committee as well as the advice and help of my advisors and mentors in the Biology program and the Honors College. The Learning Center helped me prepare for my medical school application process by helping me write my resume, personal statement, and essays for application. They have a wonderful group of people who meet with students individually to go over graduate school applications and prepare for interviews. They have people that will comprehensively help you prepare for the interview process by doing mock interviews and workshops for application and resume writing as well as interview preparation. VT: How are the various study areas? Libraries? The Student Union? Dorm lounges? Wendy: The library is beautiful and huge. The hours are very friendly for studying and they have a setting for every student- quiet study rooms that can be reserved by individual students, quiet study areas and cubicles, and group study areas. I didn't live on campus so I don't have much experience with the Dorm Lounges and Student Unions. As a member of the Honors College, honors students have 24 hour swipe access to honors college computer lounges and study areas that are perfect for group or individual studying. VT: What is the surrounding town like? What are the best local attractions that make it unique? Wendy: Adelphi is in the heart of Garden City, which is a very nice, quaint town. It's easy to walk around in and grab lunch or coffee. There are many small cafes and places to get lunch from or just hang out in. There is a mall nearby that has any store you could possibly want. Shuttle buses can take you to the mall to see a movie or do some shopping. The beach is ~20 minutes away and is always nice to visit. Adelphi is a 5-10 minute walk from the LIRR station which is a ~30 minute ride to Penn Station in NYC. Shuttle buses also will take you to the train station if you don't feel like walking. VT: How big or small is the student body and how does that affect your experience? Wendy: The student body is a decent size and I personally found it the perfect size for getting to know people without it being too smal so as to prevent you from branching out. The individual programs vary in size, but there is plenty of interaction with people in different schools or programs. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one you dreaded the most. Wendy: Personally, the best part about Adelphi for me was the professors. Whenever I had a problem or concern, I had 2 go-to professors to help me. One was my mentor in the Biology Department. I did research for 2 years on plant genetics with him and he helped me every step of the way with applying to medical schools, deciding which locations and programs were best for me, counseling on writing and completing my thesis, preparing and presenting at research conferences, and outlining and completing my requirements for graduation. The other person that would always help me when I had a crisis was one of the deans of the Honors Program. She was there to help me decide what I wanted to do after graduation and how to go about combining my interests of writing and science so as to find a career that would make me happy and explore all of my interests. She helped me get in touch with my mentor in the Biology department and put me in touch with alumni and professors that I could talk to abou t my interests and professional concerns. I had a great support network in Adelphi of people that would go out of their way to stop everything they were doing to help me figure out my professional concerns.
